It’s early yet in the weeklong Hobie Tiger Worlds, and with French teams taking the top two places on the second day, the pressure is on Americans Greg Thomas and Jacques Bernier to retake the lead.

After a first day with narrow point separations at the top of the class results, Day 2 of the New York YC Race Week at Newport did not disappoint.

The world’s best junior sailors convened in Weymouth and Portland, Great Britain July 12-21 for the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship 2006. 281 entrants competed in classes including 420, Laser, Laser Radial, Hobie 16, and RS:X windsurfer.

Most of the class winners in the New York YC’s Race Week at Newport established leads on the first day and held on the whole week.

Light breeze and scorching sun did not prevent racing on day 2 of New York YC Race Week at Newport. Leaders hung onto their positions in the shifty breeze, while the Classic Division wrapped up their regatta.

Early fog forces the first day of racing in the New York Yacht Club Race Week at Newport up Narragansett Bay, but a steady southwesterly breeze makes for a good day of racing.
