Peter de Ridder’s Mean Machine won the TP52 division at Hublot PalmaVela in Palma, Spain. While the Breitling MedCup doesn’t begin until June, the circuit’s defending champs were happy to start off their season with a victory “We are really pleased with the performance of the boat, especially upwind,” said de Ridder. “A great start to the season before the MedCup takes off. It’s definitely going to be a challenge this year with all the brand new boats joining the TP52 fleet.”Elsewhere in the 19-division, 2,000-sailor event, the Bermudian sloop Favonius defeated Alfa Romeo and others in the Maxi Racing division and Cinq a Sept won the Flying 15s.
