Nerone Wins Farr 40 Europeans

Past world champion Massimo Mezzaroma wins his third European title in preparation for the Farr 40 Worlds later this summer.

Nerone stole the show on the final day of the 2007 Rolex Farr 40 Europeans, posting a fourth and a first and winning by six points from overnight leaders Mascalzone Latino, with Kokomo from Australia a further eight points back in third. This is Massimo Mezzaroma’s third European title, which he adds to the Rolex Farr 40 World Championship he won in 2003 in Porto Cervo.Mezzaroma praised those around him for their efforts and put victory down to team work. “The most important thing of all is the crew,” he said. “When you’re putting a team together the human aspect is the key: it’s almost like a marriage. There is no point having the best athletes and the best technicians if they can’t work together, you have to spend hours and hours on a boat in the middle of the sea with these people.” The 2007 Rolex Farr 40 World Championship will be held in Copenhagen from 29th August to 1st September. www.rolexsettimanadellebocche.comRolex Farr 40 European Championship 2007 Top 5 Place/Boat Name/Country/Owner/R1/R1/R3/R4/R5/R6/R7/R8/R9/R10/R11/TOTAL1/Nerone/ITA/Massimo Mezzaroma/7/4/6/11/15/7/7/15/2/4/1/792/Mascalzone Latino/ITA/Vincenzo Onorato/10/13/10/1/5/13/4/2/9/12/6/853/Kokomo/AUS/Lang Sue Walker/12/9/3/5/12/1/16/17/3/13/3/934/Siragusawa/FIN/Olli-Pekka Lumijarvi Antii Linnovaara/14/8/17/4/18/6/8/3/1/7/8/945/Fiamma/ITA/Alessandro Barnaba/2/12/18/7/11/8/6/9/6/6/8/98
