In the five months since this race left Alicante, the fleet has visited Alicante, Cape Town, Abu Dhabi, Sanya and Auckland. That’s a lot of miles sailed.
The fleet was lined up yesterday within a 3nm reach of each other. While sailing, Brunel navigator Andrew Cape informed the rest of the crew of the latest update.
The Volvo Ocean Race teams are through the wind shadow off of Sri Lanka and onto the wild ride that is the Bay of Bengal.
Franck Cammas did not let the fact that both he and Groupama were new players in the Volvo Ocean Race stand in his way as he sailed into an overall victory for 2011-’12 series.
