The list of the nominees for US SAILING’s Rolex Yachtsman and Yachtswoman of the Year includes an America’s Cup winner, team racing world champions, and two rivals in the Laser Radial Class.

Last Thursday Jonathan McKee was looking forward to getting Estrella Damm back into the thick of the Barcelona World Race. Now he and co-skipper Guillermo Altadill an en route to Cape Town to hopefully repair a broken rudder. Joining them is PRB, a pre-race favorite that was in second place when the top of its mast broke off.
Determined by a panel in each conference along with /Sailing World/’s coaches’ panel: Michael Callahan (Georgetown), Ken Legler (Tufts), and Mike Segerblom (USC).

The Farr 40 celebrated its 10th anniversary with a pair of regattas in Miami. Among the 17 boats sailing in the fleet race were four new programs. We spoke with two of the owners about their first foray into this competitive one-design class.
