As the America’s Cup starts to jump through the many hoops required to host the event in San Francisco Bay, an early look at the race arena offers a bit of insight as to the future of the competition for sailing’s top trophy.
Every point does count, except when trying too hard to win that point costs you a few more in the long run.

This month, some three dozen iron-willed sailors—scattered throughout the Barcelona World Race fleet, Jules Verne record-attempts, and other competitions—will battle the Roaring Forties.
All eyes are focused on the spring season and the season-ending national championships this coming May and June. But one last task remains from the Fall 2010 season, to rank the teams within each division.
