MOD70 Retreats for Strength

The MOD70 has attracted interest and spectators, and delivered on being a relatively safe yet fun multihull class. But the problem is that the sponsors are not able to turn the spending spigot tap on again, or at least not just yet.

Yale claims the top of both coed and women’s rankings in the fourth poll of the spring. Stanford and Georgetown round out the coed top three while Boston College and Navy nab the second and third rankings in the women’s poll.

Eight championship events, including the IRC and HPR North Americans, will be held at the Storm Trysail Club’s Block Island Race Week this June. Over 150 boats have signed up for the 25th anniversary of the biennial event. New fleets include classic boats, doublehanded boats, and Gunboats. In the third poll of the spring season, Yale takes command of the coed rankings followed by Georgetown and Stanford. Boston College tops the women’s rankings, while Cornell leaps into the top 10. Twenty-eight coaches voted in this poll.
