While the leaders in the 470 and Finn clases stretch away, the action is getting quite tight in seven of the 10 classes sailing their Olympic Trials this month.
The 470 leaders bolster their positions, while Mike Gebhardt and Ben Barger remain deadlocked in the lead in the Men’s RS:X title. Nancy Rios sweeps two races in the women’s RS:X and moves within two points of the lead.
While everyone else rest-or at least doesn’t race-Zach Railey stretches his lead in the Finn class with a pair of victories.
More of the same from the Tornado trials while Wadlow and Rast jump out to a big lead in the 49er division with four wins in four races.
Laser sailor Andrew Campbell and the 49er duo of Morgan Larson and Pete Spaulding sweep their respective days of competition and move closer to the lead. The California racers suffered through some difficult wind conditions and the Finns were shut out.
Brad Funk takes over the lead in the Laser Class, while Anna Tunnicliffe holds on to the top spot in the Radial division, despite a hard charge from Paige Railey, who won the last race.
From Rhode Island and Southern California, the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Trials get underway. Fog prevents the Laser and Radial fleet from getting in a second race, but everyone other fleet gets in two or three races.
