Four MOD70s, including Yann Guichard’s Spindrift Racing, compete in the Route des Princes, a stage race over 3,045 nautical miles between Valencia and the Bay of Morlaix via Lisbon, Dublin-Dún Loaghaire, and Plymouth.
The MOD70 Spindrift capsized during the Route des Princes offshore race, shattering the mast and sending skipper Yann Guichard’s brother Jacques to the hospital with a broken pelvis.
The second offshore leg in the Atlantic Cup culminated in Newport, R.I. May 19th, making Atlantic Cup history as the closest finish. Bodacious Dream took home the prize after an exciting offshore leg. The event ends with two days of Inshore racing (May 25-26).
The third annual Atlantic Cup kicked off in Charleston, S.C., on May 11 as seven Class 40 teams set off for New York City. The second leg of the competition departs on May 18 at 2 p.m. The annual event culminates in Newport, R.I. with two days of Inshore racing (May 25-26).
The third edition of the Atlantic Cup features three legs, seven teams, and a heavy payout to the winners.
