The AC45 is a lean, mean, speed machine. Held down by a crew of five, this 44-foot long catamaran can cruise at speeds of over 30 knots in the right conditions. Designed by the defending team ORACLE Racing, the AC45 has already helped to make sailing a more visual and exciting spectator sport–plus, these boats can each fit into a 40-foot container!
Think you know sailboat racing? The AC45 brings a whole new boatload of excitement, danger, and thrill to the sport, making it more visual and entrancing than ever before. Capable of speeds of up to 30 knots, the catamarans must still remain nimble enough to maneuver successfully on the tight racecourses.
The third act of the series brought great breeze and the closest finish so far this year, with The Wave, Muscat _coming out on top after 4 days and 29 races. _The Wave, Muscat, headed by Leigh McMillan now stands in first overall with 29 points. Close behind them is French _Groupe Edmond de Rothschild _with 25 points, and then in third _Red Bull Sail__ing Team _with 24 points. Not to be discounted is _Oman Air _in 4th with 23 points total.
