We wrapped up the Helly Hansen Sailing World Regatta Series in St. Petersburg, Florida today at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. The wind shut down, but the fun wound up to the excitement of the awards party.
Representing St. Petersburg in the Caribbean Championship this year will be Team Matros! Tracy Brand, Tanner Bryant, Thomas Bryant, Mary Cole and Perry Lewis won their S2 7.9 - Midwinters class with a total score of 9 points and then went on to win the berth to sail in the Caribbean Championship presented by Sunsail.
Tampa Bay delivers on the second day of the Helly Hansen Sailing World Regatta Series with a passing cold front giving the small boats perfect planning conditions and giving the bigger boats a wet ride for the distance race. Neither the boats, nor conditions held back.

The 2023 Helly Hansen Sailing World Regatta Series St. Petersburg got off to a spectacular start for the opening races of the three-day national sailing series taking place on Tampa Bay. Competitors gather in St. Petersburg, Florida, for the kickoff event of the 2023 Helly Hansen Sailing World Regatta Series. With nearly 270 boats and 14 classes spread across Tampa Bay, racers will enjoy three days of racing. Here's a look at the action to come.
A new feature to the regatta for 2023 is the addition of two days of distance-racing courses that will send as many as 40 teams on a challenging daily course to predetermined navigational markers located around Tampa Bay. Depending on the wind strength and conditions, these competitors will sail dozens of miles before finishing in the vicinity of the St. Petersburg Pier in the late afternoon.
