Regatta Time In Detroit

Detroit, the fourth stop on the 2005 Lands' End NOOD Regatta circuit, starts tomorrow for 180 boats.

Detroit, Mich.-Lake St. Clair is a vast, blue, empty expanse today, but by mid-day tomorrow, 180 teams will be churning its waters as they start the first day of the Lands’ End NOOD Regatta, hosted by Bayview YC. The fleet is collection of locally popular one-designs: Cal 25s, Crescents, C&C 35s, Express 37s, and Ultimate 20s, mixed with well traveled classes, including the Melges 24, Beneteau 36.7, and J/105s. Bringing the total number of entries to 180 are other J Boat classes (J/120, J/24, and J/35), Santana 35, Mumm 30, and three level-rated divisions. The forecast is for light to moderate winds, and racing will continue through the weekend. Check here tomorrow for the opening day’s preliminary results.
