Interview: San Diego NOOD Overall Winner

Jim Sears, skipper of the San Diego NOOD Regatta's overall winning Viper 640 F.N.G., explains how he and crew Sarah Hester and Rachel Ellis got it done in tough conditions.

Dr Jim Sears claimed the Overall Winner title of the San Diego NOOD regatta racing his Viper 640. Professionally, Jim is a Pediatrician and co-host of the Emmy award-winning CBS daytime talk show The Doctors. Dr. Jim has been racing sailboats since age 7 when he would double-hand his Laser with his younger brother. Currently he sails a Viper 640 named F.N.G. and a Formula-18 Catamaran out of Long Beach, CA.

“I chose the Viper because it’s a boat I can race with my fiancé, who is a bit new to sailing, and we’ve had a ton of fun traveling all over the country with it,” says Sears.

His team is REALLY looking forward to the BVI NOOD party, er, regatta for some great racing! Rigorous team tryouts have been held at the Alamitos Bay Yacht Club bar.
