Video: Company in the Southern Ocean

Even in the middle of the Southern Ocean, the skippers of the Vendée Globe find company.

The Vendée Globe is a solitary race, with skippers facing the open ocean alone much of the time. Even in the Southern Ocean, though, company can be found in passing boats. For some skippers, nearby competitors offer a welcome chance to talk, and for others, a passing cargo or naval vessel is a welcome sign of life.
