Sneak Preview of Deep Water

Upcoming IFC Films release documents Donald Crowhurst's meltdown in the 1968 Sunday Times Golden Globe Race, and /SW/ has exclusive access to the theatrical trailer

DeepWater368

The upcoming IFC Films release Deep Water documents the 1968 Sunday Times Golden Globe Race, first solo, non-stop, round-the-world race, and the psychological toll it took on its competitors. This epic event attracted a field of nine, including amateur sailor Donald Crowhurst. The film is largely reconstructed from Crowhurst’s personal 16mm films, which show the sailor battling treacherous seas and his own demons. Crowhurst almost immediately comes apart as he faces the isolation of nine months on the high seas. The film is opening in New York and LA on August 24th. On September 7th it is opening in: Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, San Diego and San Rafael. To view the trailer, click here.
