The French Le Défi Areva team almost shook up the pecking order today as they narrowly missed defeating OneWorld. The French trailed by inches around the first mark and while OneWorld was occasionally able to build upon their lead, the Le Défi team never let them run away and hide. The final delta was just 21 seconds. With Andy Beadsworth starting Wight Lightning, replacing Andy Green at least for that race, GBR Challenge was able to force Victory Challenge over the line early and cruise to a 48-second victory. Alinghi knocked Oracle BMW Racing from the ranks of the unbeaten, leaving just OneWorld without a loss, and Team Dennis Conner kept Mascalzone Latino from recording its first win.
