Satterthwaite Adds Versatility to Alingi Pit Alingi, current defender of the America’s Cup, recently hired veteran racer Craig Satterthwaite to serve in the runner/pit crew position. Satterthwaite arrives fresh from the Round the World Volvo Ocean Race, which he sailed aboard The Black Pearl with fellow Alinghi crew Rodney Ardern and Curtis Blewett. In 2003, Satterthwaite served as Team New Zealand’s boat captain. The New Zealand native’s vast racing experience gives him a great deal of versatility, both in the pit and on shore. In an Alinghi press release, Satterthwaite described his role, saying, “As runner/pit, I will be filling gaps for the team as an all-rounder and on shore I will help with the deck hardware and in keeping the boat running.” For the latest Alinghi news, click here .
