Bertrand (US) HOF
Bertrand (b. 1956) ascended to fame as the first to twice win the Laser Worlds (’76, ’77) and the NA championships (’75, ’77). The San Francisco sailor went on to win the Finn Gold Cup in ’78, and an Olympic silver medal in 1984.
He’s been involved in three America’s Cup campaigns, Courageous ’83, A2 in ’87, and Stars and Stripes in ’92, as tactician and strategist. He was also a key organizer of the 1D35 and 1D48 classes.
Bertrand now resides in Annapolis, Md. where his big-boat management company, Bertrand Racing Group, is presently involved in creating a new Maxi-Class to a box rule, of which Windquest _(ex _Zephyrus V)_ is a result. _
