--

Chicago YC is now accepting requests for invitation to the 2008 Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac presented by Lands’ End. The 100th running of “The Mac” begins on July 19, 2008.”Chicago Yacht Club has already received over 100 inquiries from sailors, asking about our invitation process. We are delighted to see such strong interest in the 100th running of the Mac, and we’re expecting a record turnout next July,” Greg Miarecki, chair of the 2008 Mackinac Committee remarked.Participation in the 333-mile race from Chicago YC to Mackinac Island, Mich., is by invitation only. If a sailor has successfully completed one of the last three Macs as a ‘person in charge,’ he or she will automatically receive an invitation to compete in the 100th race. The invitation will be sent to the email address Chicago Yacht Club has on file.”Those who qualify for automatic invitations should expect to receive them in mid-November. At that time, we will also be publishing our Notice of Race,” Miarecki explained. If a sailor interested in participating is not eligible for an automatic invitation, he or she may request an invitation. Requests for invitation are made through the official website under “documents” and “request an invitation.” The request process will require sailors to provide information regarding his or her boat and proposed crew. Chicago Yacht Club will begin responding to these invitation requests in early to mid-December.Questions about the race?
