Gale Torments Remaining Osaka Racers

News brief, 5/1/07

Although six yachts have already finished the 2007 Melbourne Osaka Cup, six doublehanded crews remain at sea and the top three have been hit by gale force winds.Sailing their Jones/Hart 14m yacht Alex – Team MacAdie, Jock and Hamish MacAdie won line honors in the 5,500-nautical mile race back on April 27, but for the boats still sailing, the race is far from over. The three lead boats, Southern Light, Asadori and Hullabaloo, are in the middle of southerly winds that are expected to rise to a peak of 45 knots and create large seas, perhaps the the worst weather conditions of the race so far.
