Fossett Does it Again

Sets new record on the Plymouth-La Rochelle route

Fossett Challenge

Steve Fossett and the crew of the 125-foot catamaran Playstation have set another record today, this time on the 355nm course from Plymouth, England to La Rochelle, France. Averaging 21.6 knots and taking 16h:41h.40s, Playstation _beat the previous record, set by Ross Hobson and Pete Berry on the 40-foot trimaran in 2001.

Playstation didn't stop at La Rochelle and celebrate the new record, Fossett and the 9-man crew continued on to Marseilles for a short training program in the Med before attempting the Marseilles to Carthage Trans-Mediterranean route and the Cadiz to San Salvador Route of Discovery later this year.

This latest record for Fossett, once it's ratified by the World sailing Speed Record Council, will be the seventh record set by Playstation in the last 12 months.
