After rounding the second windward mark in 10th place, BMW Oracle Racing executed a stellar come-from-behind victory in Race 1 of Louis Vuitton Act 13.Position changes were frequent and dramatic in the shifty conditions. Italy’s +39 Challenge jumped to an early lead, and led the 12-boat fleet for most of the race. Alinghi, Emirates Team New Zealand, and BMW Oracle Racing mixed it up at the back of the pack before the Americans vaulted into the lead on the final leg. +39 Challenge finished 10th, Shosholoza second, Alinghi fourth, and Emirates Team New Zealand fifth.
