One point of clarification. BMW Oracle won Act 10 on Tuesday despite having sailed one less race that the other three competitors tied on points at the top of the standings. Because the Challenger Rankings, which will be used to decide the bonus points each team carried into the Louis Vuitton Cup next spring, don’t break ties, BMW Oracle needed to sail that final race, against +39 Challenge, to be alone in first in both the Act 10 standings and the Challenger Rankings. So after celebrating the win on Tuesday night, the BMW Oracle Racing crew defeated +39 Challenge on Wednesday, a make up of a race that was abandoned earlier in the regatta. With that win they finished Act 10 with 10 points, one clear of the other three teams tied on nine.
