Along For the Ride With Rambler 88

We'd always wanted to hitch a ride on George David's awesome Rambler 88, so when the opportunity came in St. Barths, we hustled to the quay.

George David’s 88-foot powerful canting keel maxi, Rambler 88, was built to burn through open ocean miles in strong winds, but on the final day final day of Les Voiles De St. Barth Richard Mille in April, lighter breezes meant the 25-strong crew had its work cut out against the newer Botin 80-footer Deep Blue and the Maxi72s Vesper and Bella Mente. With David remaining onshore for the race, helmsman Joca Signorini takes the wheel for the daylong race weaving through St. Barth’s surrounding islets and we go along for the ride onboard one of the most successful American grand-prix sailing programs.
