Sailing Hall of Famer Runyon Colie Jr. was a career engineer and one of the greatest amateur sailors of all time. He dedicated his life to racing, and helping young sailors improve skills.

The Whitbread Race’s Flying Dutchman, Conny van Rietschoten, the only skipper to have won the race twice, passed away in December. A sentimental favorite of fans of the race, van Rietchoten, was a true character in era of true grit. Professional photographer Onne van der Wal captured the experience onboard in Flyer in 1977, and shares his own Conny story.
