Earlier this week, ISAF announced the nominees for the ISAF Rolex World Sailor of Year Awards 2009.

Female nominees include: Sam Davies, who had a breakthrough performance in the 2008-09 Vendee Globe; Hilary Lister, who became the first disabled woman to sail solo around Britain; Blanca Manchon, a Spanish RS:X sailor who has dominated the ISAF Sailing World Cup; and Anna Tunnicliffe, a 2008 nominee who won both singlehanded and match-racing events this year.

For the men, the nominees are: Pascal Bidegorry, whose Banque Populaire V team set the transatlantic record; Michel Desjoyeaux, who won the Vendee Globe; Paul Goodison, who won the Laser World Championship; and Torben Grael, who led Ericsson 4 to victory in the 2008-09 Volvo Ocean Race.
