Who says Hollywood gives no love to sailing? Just last year, videographer Vincent Casalaina of Image Integration received an Emmy nomination for his documentary, “2009 Snipe World Championship.” The veteran television director and longtime Snipe sailor previously won Emmies for coverage of the 1985 Big Boat Series and the 1996 Citibank Regatta. Last month, he turned his lens on the Melges 32 class during the 2010 Rolex Big Boat Series and 2010 Melges 32 World Championship, both of which took place on San Francisco Bay. He caught up with elite sailors like Russell Coutts and Jonathan McKee, and captured impressive boathandling sequences by Luca Lalli’s B-Lin crew.

In all of Casalaina’s sailing videos, a voiceover narrative helps weave on-the-water footage with insightful competitor interviews. Casalaina’s racing experience lends the productions a degree of authenticity sailors will appreciate, while non-sailors should find the documentaries easy-to-follow and informative.

Enjoy the videos below, and find more of Casalaina’s work on YouTube.
