Earlier this month, nearly 70 sailors gathered at Hood Sailmakers in Middletown, R.I., for the inaugural meeting of the Short-handed Sailing Association (SSA). President Joe Cooper outlined the group’s goals and initiated discussions of safety, seamanship, equipment, technique, and racing opportunities for shorthanded sailors.
