High Winds Scour Hauraki Gulf

There will be no racing Friday on the Hauraki Gulf . With westerlies of 30 knots and gusts to 35 being reported on the course, the Louis Vuitton Race Committee pulled the plug before boats left the Viaduct Basin.

Semifinal racing is scheduled to end Tuesday, perhaps sooner for the Oracle crew, down 3-0 to Alinghi.

When asked if Oracle would concede the final race, as Prada did when they were 3 points down to Alinghi in the Quarterfinals, skipper Chris Dickson replied: "We certainly will not be conceding the last race until we cross the finish line and we have not given up hope of winning the series yet. We know that being 3 nil down is a tough ask but we’ve had two out of three races where we thought we were in with a very good shot. We’ll certainly be out there on the start line and Alinghi may chose to concede -- who knows?"

In the OneWorld/Prada matchup, the score is effectively 1-1 Even though OneWorld has won two races, their one-point penalty evens up the score.
