The 2012 Zhik Nautica Moth World Championship kicked off on August 20 in Campione, Italy, on the western shore of Lake Garda, up north in the promised land of summertime watersports and tourists. A whole cast of Moth class characters have desceneded upon the lake, which is perfectly positioned to lure the European Moth contingent in full force. With a class record-breaking fleet of 125 registered competitors from 20 countries, it'll be busy on the racecourse, and the abscence of world champ Nathan Outteridge, of Australia, currently cueing up at the America's Cup World Series in San Francisco, leaves the door open for fellow Aussie Scott Babbage to do the 24-deep Aussie contingent proud. Past world champ Bora Gulari eager to take back the throne, too. Results are here, awesome photos by Thierry Martinez are here, along with a series from a hairy top-mark rounding on the fifth day, and a taste of the fun is below.
