Ondine: first in Class A, first overall

“Although the weather for the passage could hardly have been less severe, there were a number of casualties that forced a total of six retirements,” Ted Jones writes of this blustery transatlantic race. “Ondine took off like a shot, carrying a spinnaker almost continuously to the finish. She racked up an incredible 11 consecutive noon-to-noon runs of more than 200-miles.”
