The Whitbread Race's Flying Dutchman, Conny van Rietschoten, the only skipper to have won the race twice, passed away in December. A sentimental favorite of fans of the race, van Rietchoten, was a true character in era of true grit. Professional photographer Onne van der Wal captured the experience onboard in Flyer in 1977, and shares his own Conny story.
