Seasoned Extreme 40 sailor Leigh McMillan and The Wave, Muscat team won the final act of the 2012 Extreme Sailing Series, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, by the slimmest of margins: 0.2 points. Compiled with their wins in three previous acts this year, the Wave nabbed the series championship for the year. McMillan's team included tactician Ed Smyth (NZL), mainsail trimmer Pete Greenhalgh (GBR), headsail trimmer Hannah Mills (GBR--silver medalist in the Women's 470 at the London Olympics) and bowman Hashim Al Rashdi (OMA).
