Peter Harken
A talent for design
From custom fittings for his E-Scow came ball bearing blocks,
winches, traveler cars, and cam cleats. With over 90 patents, Peter and
brother Olaf Harken's Wisconsin-based company, Harken has established
itself as one of the premier sailboat hardware companies in the world.
Peter
runs Harken's custom engineering division which has supplied all the
equipment to the last four America's Cup winners and outfitted 14 of
the 2003 Cup boats, including the defender. Harken continues to equip
some of the worlds newest designs such as Mari-Cha IV, Mirabella, Alfa Romeo, and Pyewacket.
