Meet the teams, understand the course, and even check out the set-up at Fort Adams. Whether you're planning on watching from water, from land, or from your desk, this guide will help you to know exactly what's going on. Newport 2012 America's Cup World Series Schedule

Starting off on the right foot with the ACWS Newport Downtown Kick-Off on Friday, June 22nd, the fun won't stop until Sunday, July 1st. Here you'll find the hours that the America's Cup Village will be open, when the Fleet and Match Racing will be occuring, and even when the Ravers will be serenading the crowd.

Meet the Teams of the AC World Series

Eight of the best race crews in the world will be competing in Newport this summer. Well-known teams such as Sweden's Artemis Racing, ORACLE Racing teams Spithill and Coutts, and Kiwi Emirates Team go up against relative newcomers like Energy Team, Team Korea, and the two Luna Rossa boats. No one should be counted out, as racing will undoubtedly keep fans on the edge of their seats.

The Trophies of the 34th America's Cup and the Current Overall Standings

Although there are three AC events with existing trophies, only one will be awarded this summer. That will be the newest trophy, the AC World Series Trophy, a shiny silver globe supported by nine wing sails. It represents the international nature of the competing teams and venues, while also paying tribute to the precision of technology that is such a vital aspect of the sport. Here you'll also find the current overall standings in the World Series, as well as a brief explanation of LiveLines, the new technology that helps make the sport more accessible to fans.

Exploration Zone

The Exploration Zone, located on the North Lawn of Fort Adams, will be a marine-themed zone populated by organizations providing hands-on experiences, presentations, and film clips. Some participating organizations include the Sail Newport Youth Challenge and Sailing Festival, the 34th America's Cup Healthy Ocean Project, and IYRS, the International Yacht Restoration School.

Timeline

Confused by all the different AC events? You don't have to be anymore. Here, they're all spelled out on a nifty timeline.

Understanding the Course

From start to finish, this guide efficiently illustrates the turns and limits that will be part of the ACWS. The boats themselves are designed to sail in the widest range of conditions possible, from just 2.5 knots to 30 knots of breeze. Since only the threat of overwhelming waves will cause a cessation of racing, you better know the course before it gets too wild out there.
