Looking at the Finish Line of Barcelona World Race
Ryan Breymaier watches for the finish at the Barcelona World Race on the 100th day at sea. (W Hotel BCN in background) Ryan and Boris Herrmann left Barcelona on December 31, 2010 and sailed around the planet, non-stop, no aide arriving back in Barcelona on April 10, 2011 at 17:30 to a crowd of over 5,000 spectators. The celebrations included fireworks from the Christoper Columbus monument. |
Felicitations Neutrogena!
A fifth place finish at the Barcelona World Race on April 10, 2011. Ryan Breymaier and Boris Herrmann celebrate the end of 100 days around the planet, non-stop, extreme sailing. Ryan hails from Annapolis, Maryland and now lives in France with his wife Nicola. He started his sailing career while attending college in Maryland and is now one of only 10 Americans to sail around the globe. Congratulations Neutrogena. |
Please stay on the windward side of the boat!
During a small puff the windward hull lifted and the unprepared crew slid across the boat, resulting in a decrease in righting moment, which increased healing, and the crew's position to leeward, which decreased righting moment and increased healing and.... It finally became necessary to abandon ship. |

Lake Ontario, Melges 24 North Americans Championship
First time racing the new boat with a new crew. I feel pretty lucky to come out in one piece. |
cowgirls at the freak rig
This is a shot of my daughter Claire, steering, with her 2 friends Charlotte and bella at the Wadawanuck Club in Stonington, CT in the summer of 2010. They are in their Opti competing in the "freak rig". They placed second (mostly because they finished second the previous year and charlottes mom threw out the perpetual second place trophy that they had won the year before; she's in big trouble!) It was easier to give them second and have them fin their own trophy! |
