Taken at Lake Walchensee in Bavaria, Germany. 45 29ers competed in the German National Championships. The lake was beautiful! Tons of kitesurfers were out sailing as well.

New York Yacht Club 158th Annual Regatta
Over 100 boats competed in the Around the Island (Conanicut) race this past weekend, followed by the 158th New York Yacht Club Annual Regatta itself which had a showing of 133 boats. This is the oldest regatta in America.

2012 Typhoon Nationals
The Rappahannock River Yacht Club hosted the 2012 Typhoon Nationals. Irvington, Virginia is home to the largest Typhoon Fleet in the world. Brent, Ron and Rick Mihills put together a string of 3-3-1-1-1 and won the 19 boat Championship fleet convincingly. It was the second national win for Dad Ron and son Rick who sailed together last year to win the 2011 class national title.

Mass Bay Junior Olympics at Annisquam Yacht Club
The 2012 Mass Bay Junior Olympic Festival that took place at Annisquam Yacht Club was accompanied by sunshine and light air on Monday, giving way to more breeze on Tuesday. Thomas Walden and William Hundahl from Pleon won first in the C420 fleet of 50 boats, while Nicholas Mehlman and Antonia Rerisi of MSA took home first in C420 Green. Zoe Ting of Sandy Bay YC brought home first in Optimist Green, and Emma Rose Safford, also of Sandy Bay, won in the Optimist White fleet. Jed Bell of Hingham YC won Optimist Blue, and Rachel Foster of Pleon won Optimist Red. Matt Safford of Pleon won first in the Laser Radial division.

Rolex Sydney Hobart Race 2012
The 628-mile offshore classic got underway in 20-25 knots at Sydney Heads on Dec. 26. Robert Oatley’s Wild Oats XI 100-foot maxi Wild Oats XI secured Line Honours, Overall Winner and Race Record. The boat, skippered by Mark Richards, finished with a time of 1 day, 18 hours, 23 minutes, and 12 seconds, slicing 16 minutes and 58 seconds off her own record.
