Clear skies and favorable winds prevailed over Chesapeake Bay today during day two of the 2012 Sperry Top-Sider NOOD Regatta, which saw top-tier racing from all 17 boat classes. The prime conditions also paved the way for a dramatic final day of competition tomorrow at the Annapolis leg of the largest sailing series in the country.  The Farr 30 Class, which has seen a resurgence in recent years, saw a strong fleet of 16 boats from as far away as Sweden, Canada and California navigate the Chesapeake Bay course with masterful precision. In the end, Groovederci from Santa Barbara, Ca. squeaked out the class’s top spot with a three race score of six-points. Nipping at its stern were, Standard Deviation and the locally-based boat Nightshift which posted 10-and 14-point scores respectively, promising an action-packed finish tomorrow when the class will determine its 2012 North American Champion.
