Seeing Red in Alicante

Seeing Red in Alicante

When one arrives into Alicante, whether they are flying in for the Volvo Ocean Race or not, there is no missing Puma or il Mostro. Had my camera been handy, would have captured how every single claim isle had a poster of il Mostro, every joining wall a super-sized version and even greeted with Puma "people" waiting for more Puma "people" with a very red Puma van outside the airport.

There is no missing the candy apple red of Puma's presence, or take-over! There is even a Puma City Tour Bus outside the entrance to Race Village, for a brief moment thought I never left London!

I've not even been in Alicante for 24 hours and it is extremely clear the focus and fan favorites are indeed Puma. Sailing under the radar a touch are Ericsson and Telefonica who I walked right past and they have three boats each, two actually competing in the venue (likely blinded from the red glare of Puma City.)

So the blogging from Alicante has commenced and if readers have questions, things they'd like to find out, please post them on the SW forums and I will do my best to post the scoop. The Media folks are all very helpful, but times will pick up by next week.

Cheers from Alicante!
