July 24, 20122012 SAP 505 World ChampionshipWith a staggering 188 boats, the 505 fleet employed a gate or rabbit start to give the entire fleet an equal chance during the starting phase. Over six days, just nine races were completed, leading to a tight point spread and ensuring that no place on the podium was locked down until the finish line. The team of Jan Saugmann and Martin Gorge (DEN 8964) snagged a third place in the final race, leap-frogging them into first overall.

July 16, 201252 Super Series at Palma, MallorcaNiklas Zennström's Rán Racing claimed their first victory in the 52 Super Series. Zennström described the near gale force conditions at the four-day Royal Cup in Palma, Mallorca, to be “as good as it gets”.
