July 24, 20122012 SAP 505 World ChampionshipWith a staggering 188 boats, the 505 fleet employed a gate or rabbit start to give the entire fleet an equal chance during the starting phase. Over six days, just nine races were completed, leading to a tight point spread and ensuring that no place on the podium was locked down until the finish line. The team of Jan Saugmann and Martin Gorge (DEN 8964) snagged a third place in the final race, leap-frogging them into first overall.

July 10, 2012Extreme Sailing Series: Act 4 (Porto)Leigh McMillan's team The Wave, Muscat performed brilliantly on the tight racecourse of the Douro river, winning first place in 10 of the 32 races and extending his overall series lead. Red Bull Sailing Team came in second in Porto, with Oman Air claiming the final podium spot in third.
