From the Road: College Sailing Photo Contest

Sometimes, the journey to a regatta is just as memorable as the racing. This fall, we asked students to share the essence of the college sailing road trip with our photo contest. Here are all the honorable mentions, and the winners.

Third Place: As puffy fall clouds float over the shores of Seattle, the University of Victoria Sailing Club makes their van a home away from home at the Cascadia Cup, hosted by the University of Washington. Second Place: Squeezing all the gear and schoolwork needed for a weekend away from campus into a van takes skill. Dartmouth senior Madi Gamble captured this artfully crafted duffel Tetris after the Women’s ACCs at Connecticut College.
First Place: Notre Dame sophomore Becky Jegier captured the freedom and fun of traveling as a team last fall at the Pere Marquette in Milwaukee, Wisc. “It was the ultimate test of teamwork,” she says of the mid-air high five. With a view of St. Joe’s Lake from her first-year dorm, Jegier decided to try sailing; she joined the club and has been hooked ever since.
