ACWS in Newport: Training Day 1
Yesterday was the Offical Training Day 1 for the America's Cup World Series in Newport. After an opening press conference, the sailors headed out for some windy practice races. The tension was tangible between ORACLE Team Spithill and Emirates Team New Zealand, for they will be vying for the overall title--Team Spithill currently has a narrow 4 point lead, but that could quickly disappear. Volvo Ocean Race: Leg 8
Although the shortest leg yet, Leg 8 was arguably the most intense. Groupama made their homecoming to Lorient, France, a comeback victory. CAMPER set a record 24-hour run of 565 miles and placed second.
