"The year 2000 - the dawn of a new millennium - is only four years away. It's the kind of momentous milestone that inspires reflection and prompts us to consider what the future holds in yacht design. Perhaps the most visible trend we can expect is an acceleration of the trickle-down of high performance features from the realm of grand-prix and America's Cup sailing into semi-custom and production-boat markets for all types of boats."
