The only sailboat racing at Bayview YC on the final day of the Detroit NOOD was on the television, as racers gathered around the club's TV sets to watch the third race of the Louis Vuitton Cup off Valencia, Spain. The wind was light, as it had been all weekend,  but it was the threat of thunderstorms that forced the Bayview YC race committee to abandon the final day of racing and start the party early. "A strong line of thunderstorms heading our way from Ohio was the worry," said Sailing World's director of marketing George Brengle. "It would have been over Lake St. Claire right about the time the fleet would be heading back to the docks if we sent them out." Racers who weren't near the top of the results list had already begun hauling their boats when the three horn blasts  sounded and the flags were raised. After the announcement club personnel quickly began setting up the food and beverage tables, and Sailing World's NOOD staff began preparing the prizes for the 1 pm awards ceremony.The theme of the 2007 Sperry Top-Sider Detroit NOOD was light air and squirrely conditions. Race committees on all three racing circles did their best to give the racers good courses, by waiting patiently for the breeze to fill in on Friday and Saturday. All three race circles scored only one race on Friday. On Saturday, Race Circle A was able to get three races off, while B and C circles had to be content with two.
